CANON PERSONALITY:
Ibuki Mioda is over the top. In a cast full of pretty universally eccentric characters, she's one of the more eccentric ones, a class clown in a class with a handful of, well. Class clowns. Bubbly and always going at ten thousand miles a minute, Ibuki almost always has something to say and she doesn't seem to display any sort of filter at all. If she thinks something, she tends to say it. Her serious side exists, but it's far, far outshadowed by her energetic, outgoing side. From the second she introduces herself to Hinata - by cutting into his own introduction to her and claiming his didn't have enough energy - Ibuki very obviously is very individualistic. It's clear even from just the way she speaks - referring to herself as "Ibuki" and speaking in the third person. Ibuki also refers to everyone on the island by their first name from the get-go, adding the familiar "-chan" as well. And by everyone I do mean everyone, no matter how standoffish they are - not only that, but she even calls Monobear with it.ABILITIES: Ibuki is the Super High School Level Light Music Club Member! ...Basically, she's aces at music and has amazing hearing, able to place everyone's voices and the order they spoke in even in pitch black darkness - with perfect recall. Other than her musical talents (and it should be noted that the stuff she likes to play is...special, although she's at least capable of playing popular things, and just doesn't) and hearing, though, there's nothing much to note. She does know how to sew, and makes a lot of her the stuff she wears, though.
Aggressively friendly doesn't begin to cover it. Ibuki's manner of addressing and speaking to everyone casually is reflected tenfold in her treatment of them. For Ibuki, there is no adjustment period needed to get to know others. She isn't shy in the least and treats everyone she meets like they're already friends...which gets mixed reactions from the rest of the cast. She's comfortable enough to go around breaking down doors in chapter three (well, one door; for everyone else she was just incessantly annoying outside their doors to wake them up...), and willingly bites the protagonist in the first chapter after being told by someone else that she could. Ibuki has absolutely zero problems doing pretty much whatever comes to mind...usually. There's maybe one or two instances of her second guessing herself (or, more accurately, realizing that it isn't the time for her antics...which is rare, for Ibuki).
Though at least part of this casual ease with doing whatever comes from sheer friendliness, a lot of it comes from excessive amounts of self-confidence. Ibuki has zero problems with that particular area. She often compliments herself (saying she not only has a great this or that but ALSO THIS) and never worries about what people will think about whatever she says (save for a one or two times where she reads the mood and goes "maybe I should not"). Even when people insult her in game, she generally just exclaims excitedly about their cutting remarks (saying Ibuki was cut down coldly, or such) before going straight back to being insanely upbeat about everything. The opinions of others, it seems, don't often get to her (though she reveals that her biggest dream is playing music with friends she trusts, implying her previous band didn't fit the qualifications); Ibuki is stubbornly herself, and doesn't want to be anything else. While she split off from the band that springboarded her into fame and Hope's Peak due to "creative differences", the details of the story were that Ibuki had refused to play more traditionally popular music for a talent scout, instead wanting to play her own stuff (which is...something).
If it hasn't become obvious already, Ibuki is really, really out there. And weird. She bites the protagonist just because another character says she can as a reward (which she hadn't asked to do, but who even takes someone up on that). Ibuki plays solo tag and solo hide-and-go-seek...and she's apparently always lost, but never worries about it because she likes nothing better than to wander around - even though this once almost took her onto a random fishing boat that was going to leave the country. She makes the protagonist (the things Ibuki makes Hinata do are sort of ridiculous...) spend a lot of time practicing headbanging with her, among other "training" activities. She makes up random words that are combinations of other words and frequently goes on tangents or throws out ideas at random - in class trials she is right only by dint of sheer luck in general, after her day in the limelight recounting what she heard during the first case. Granted, throwing things out until they stick actually worked for her, but Ibuki often seems to function on a different plane than other people, if not to the level of, say, Tanaka Gundam.
While there are moments when she is less than upbeat and more serious or startled, they are few and far between even though her canon is full of murder and mayhem. While Ibuki almost always bluescreens whenever they find a body - though she admittedly only saw two of them before she herself was taken out - she also bounces back with almost astonishing quickness for the investigations and trials...generally. It isn't that she doesn't feel upset over the deaths - on the contrary, she admits that she couldn't sleep the night after the first trial, and Ibuki shows actual serious regret that she hadn't insisted on going to meet Koizumi instead of going to Sonia's beach party, saying that if she had, Koizumi might still be around. But Ibuki tends to deal with things that upset her by acting even more out there, and so it can be hard to spot her truly genuine moments - especially when she often covers up signs of intelligence or seriousness with some new random statement. Such as "that doesn't match Ibuki's character at all!" or such.
Her truly genuine moments do exist, though (although she honestly just as often seems to forget she should be serious). Besides admitting she couldn't sleep after the first trial and regretting not agreeing to meet up with Koizumi even though Ibuki had noticed Koizumi was being serious and even offered to cancel her attendance to the beach party solely to talk about whatever it was that was bothering the other girl, Ibuki actually shows many signs of caring about the others and being capable of reading the mood. She does suggest once that she should sing to cheer people up, but immediately says that she doesn't think it's the time for it, for example - although Ibuki does try to cheer people up with two concerts after the second trial, one with Nanami and Saionji assisting and one that she put on solo for everyone in honor of Kuzuryuu's recovery.
The biggest example of a serious, genuine moment for Ibuki comes from her final free time event with Hinata, however. While she pretty much drags him around at random for the first four events, she admits in the final event she had begun doing so because he seemed upset about his lack of talent memory, so she'd tried to jog his memory about it. When it completely fails, Ibuki speaks to Hinata about who he is in a way that actually comes off as insightful and thoughtful, as though she'd considered it a lot - completely out of step with how she normally presents herself. She says that everyone is always changing, and that this is okay; it's not important that Hinata remembers what his talent is, as long as he accepts who he is in the moment. It's worth noting Ibuki only tried to jog his memory for his benefit, too; she didn't seem to care much what his talent was for her own sake, but rather had noticed a classmate feeling down and had wanted to fix it.
In actuality, you see, Ibuki is actually fairly kind-hearted. It's entirely at odds with her punk-rocker appearance, but Ibuki seems to be fairly good at reading other people's moods, and oftentimes cares about what she perceives. She worries about people being alone - Pekoyama going to stand guard during Togami's party, for example, prompts Ibuki to ask if she won't be lonely, and she later can be found walking with Pekoyama on the beach, presumably having attached herself to the other girl or having asked her along, since Pekoyama really wouldn't have initiated that pair-up. In Island Mode, a bad friend-date with Hinata will prompt Ibuki to go and search out Kuzuryuu of all people. While she doubtless irritates the people she tries to keep an eye on, her intentions are at least (generally) good ones. She is high-spirited, but she also likes to make sure everyone else's spirits are up, too. Ibuki masterminded the fireworks showing (set early in chapter three) as well as Kuzuryuu's return concert (...though admittedly she reaaaaaaaaally also just wanted to play for everyone) in addition to checking in on her more lone-wolf classmates on those notable occasions.
She actually notably tends to get on with people, which isn't something that can be said for all of her classmates. Ibuki doesn't seem to dislike any of them in general, although she gets goosebumps when Hanamura hits on all the girls as a whole and admits that Komaeda is super creepy. Despite this, Ibuki never really seems to mind Hanamura, and she later invites Komaeda to her Kuzuryuu's Health Concert shindig. Since the class tends to try to exclude Komaeda when they can (...because he sort of makes it hard to include him, which a few people note) and since this is during chapter three, when he's had plenty of time to reach the limit of people's patience, it's pretty noteworthy that Ibuki even bothered to invite him along. Hinata actually seems a little surprised she did so. Ibuki also somehow gets Pekoyama to take a walk with her, as previously mentioned, and seems to be hanging out with Tsumiki prior to the beach party. Upon meeting up with Souda and Hinata, she doesn't seem to care overmuch if they join in the party, and cheerfully rolls with it once Sonia gives the okay. So, generally? She's cool with all her classmates. She even got along with the one who killed her! Not that she remembers that being a thing, at her current canon point.
As a closing note, it should be said that while Ibuki does not remember becoming a member of Super High School Level Despair and does not even really know about the group existing (the perils of dying midway through the game...), Ibuki did in fact fall into Despair and help end her world. While it's a little less obvious how Ibuki fell than some of the others, the hints are there. In her Island Mode ending she even states that because Hinata's there, she can turn away from despair...which means that the energetic, over-the-top Ibuki actually had already felt despair even before she joined Hope's Peak Academy. Later, she would be involved in finding the body of Kuzuryuu's sister, and one of her friends (Satou) would be killed in retribution for being the culprit. Even canon updating would not give Ibuki the information she needs to understand everything that went on in the New World Program and outside of it, although her castmates could presumably choose to fill her in if they wanted - for her part, it's hard to say how Ibuki would react to the knowledge, but it would probably be in a way that was uniquely her.

ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? Nope!
S A M P L E S;
FIRST PERSON: Here!
THIRD PERSON:
Sitting still didn't come naturally to Mioda Ibuki. Rather, she hated it. Couldn't stand it! Sit still, be quiet...how many times had she heard those words throughout her existence? A million, billion, jillion times! But never enough times to stick. On the island, that's taken even higher than before, because if she stops moving or doing things...she's just going to keep thinking about things she can't help, right? Byakuya under the table, Mahiru in the beach house...It was better by far to focus on the things she could still do. And anything else, really. This time it wouldn't happen again, right? Peko'd even asked them not to let it happen again, and as long as they could just not give into the motives...But it's not in Ibuki's nature to think too deeply about that sort of thing! If she tells herself that, it's easy to move on, as long as she's moving around and has something to do.
The music venue was a good distraction. There were actual instruments she could actually run her hands over. A piano that Ibuki idly plays a snatch of a remembered song on, finding it's perfectly in tune, before she shuts the case over the keys once more. The lighting controls for the stage are familiar, and she fiddles with those a little, too, before continuing her wandering. There are other places to explore, but the others can handle those. It's been way too long since Ibuki's held a guitar in her hands, and she straight up squeals when she opens the door to the storage area and finds countless instruments, drawn like a magnet straight to her signature instrument. These, too, don't need any adjustments - though there can't be anyone but Monobear caring for them, they're in perfect condition.
"Oh my my! All alone all this tiiiiiiiiiiiime? It's okay, Ibuki's here now! She won't let anything happen to you at all!" Cradling the first guitar she'd grabbed, the musician slides through a few warm ups, humming as she goes. "In fact...Ibuki's got an idea! Ooooh, this will be wonderful! Magnificent! Praise Ibuki for her ingeniousness! She'll show you off to everyone in style!"
She's not the only one who needs something more cheerful, after all. So doing something like a concert now that they were all more or less back together...
Well, maybe it would help! Besides, it'd been a while since she'd shown her star quality, and Ibuki misses preforming. "So she'll need to make invitations, and set up the stage...Kyahahaha! No one will know what hit them! It'll be a complete mood changer!"
